Get That Number - Review

I have to say - I did not like this film from the outset. It felt like a cheesy 80s sitcom. But as the film progressed I began to like it more and more. The characters were actually nice guys, instead of guys just looking to score. The white guy was just a little rough around the edges. I’m wondering if this film has some sort of racial message, since there was the whole conversation about the white guy being “African American” and such.

It seemed so perfect that the white guy met the perfect girl for him and then finally had to chase her down to get her number. He actually had to try, had to make a sincere effort for what he wanted, instead of just throwing out some bad pick up line and hoping to get their number. It felt like the classic happy ending. But then he lost her number. Once again, the ironic twist. Even after his victory run, Rocky lost. I felt so bad for him, especially because James had no problem at all picking up women, but didn’t seem to want them. But I guess that’s the point - it doesn’t matter if you get something without trying. You have to work for what you want. And it doesn’t necessarily always work out, but its still worth the shot.
